山から切り出された丸太は、製材をする前に長さを揃えるために両端をカットします。その際に生じる、大きさの異なる丸太の端材はそれぞれが個性豊かな材料です。
“Extra”は丸太の端材それぞれの魅力が活きる、家具のシリーズとしてデザインしました。
また、それぞれの丸太のサイズを元に設計された太めのスチールフレームと組み合わせることで、丸太の存在感と暮らしの空間との調和をもたせると共に、しっかりと握る事のできる取っ手として機能することで、ほどよい丸太の重さを感じながらも持ち運びがしやすいデザインです。主役ではないけれど暮らしを支えるエキストラとして活躍します。
– Furniture using the whole log –
Logs cut from the mountain are cut at both ends in order to align length before lumbering.The end materials of logs of different sizes occurring at that time are each rich in material.”Extra” is a series of furniture where charm of each log material is useful.By combining with a simple thick steel frame, they are in harmony with the space although there is a log presence.It also functions as a handle that can be gripped firmly. You can feel the weight of the log.It is not a leading role but it is active as an extra that supports life.
